Operations Manager – Massillon Terminal

Reports to: Owner

Direct Reports: Driver Managers, Weekend/Night Dispatch, Customer Management, Load Planners, Logistics Coordinators

Position Overview

Mast Trucking is seeking an Operations Manager who can drive profitability, improve efficiency, and lead a high-performing team in a

demanding freight environment. This role is responsible for overseeing customer account management, load planning, logistics, and driver

managers—and will influence all Mast drivers. We’re seeking someone who can align daily execution with long-term strategy—keeping our

people safe, our trucks productive, and our customers well-served.

This role requires extensive hands-on experience in trucking, a bias for action, and the ability to build trust across teams. Success in this

position requires a leader who can align people and processes to drive safety, maximize productivity, and consistently deliver high-level

performance for our customers—all while keeping efficiency and profitability at the forefront.

If you're ready to take ownership and lead a core part of the business, this is your seat.

Why This Role Matters

• You will directly impact company profitability. Your decisions will influence whether trucks are running efficiently, routes are

planned smartly, and drivers are operating safely.

• You’ll shape the future of our operations team. You’ll have the ability to develop people, build structure, and strengthen processes

that set us up for long-term success.

• You’ll be trusted to lead. You’ll work closely with the owner to cast the vision, then take full ownership to bring that vision to life—

driving results through clear communication, initiative, and consistent execution

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Reinforce safety in every decision—from equipment usage to load planning to dispatch communication.

  • Productivity of Trucks & People

Maximize efficiency through strong planning, disciplined execution, and active problem-solving.

• Drive revenue per truck and optimize utilization.

• Ensure loads are built, scheduled, and executed to hit performance targets.

• Eliminate waste and improve workflows across the team.

  • High-Performance for Customers

Deliver reliable, high-quality service to every customer, every time.

• Ensure the right people and equipment are in the right place at the right time.

• Communicate proactively and accurately—especially when issues arise.

• Own customer relationships and performance metrics across the operation.

  • Team Leadership, Culture & Accountability

Build, coach, and lead a high-performing team.

• Lead dispatchers, planners, and driver managers with clear expectations and accountability.

• Develop talent, provide feedback, and ensure the right people are in the right roles.

• Align the team with Mast’s culture of respect, ownership, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with leadership to hit operational and financial goals.

Who We’re Looking For

Required Experience & Traits

• Proven trucking operations experience—dispatch, load planning, fleet management, or a similar area.

• Experience managing or coaching teams; confident making tough calls when needed.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Business-minded with a clear understanding of efficiency, cost control, and profitability.

• High accountability: gets things done, follows through, and leads by example.

• Cultural fit: values trust, respect, and steady, incremental improvement.

• Has the ability to zoom in on daily operations and zoom out to big-picture strategy—keeping long-term goals in focus while

managing day-to-day execution.
