Position Overview:
As a Night Dispatcher at Mast Trucking, you play a critical role in keeping overnight operations running smoothly. You are responsible for supporting drivers, identifying issues early, and making sound decisions that balance driver needs with business realities. This role requires steady judgment, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple situations at once while keeping operations and people moving in the right direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve overnight operational issues and troubleshoot basic driver concerns.

  • Dispatch loads and monitor shipments to support on-time performance

  • Track shipments to maintain on-time performance.

  • Provide driver support, answer questions, and coach drivers through tough situations

  • Make sound decisions within established guardrails and escalate when necessary

  • Maintain accurate, detailed written handoff notes for the next shift

  • Maintain a high level of customer service and operational efficiency.

  • Ask effective questions to fully understand situations before taking action

What Success Looks Like

  • The morning team reports smoother transitions and fewer unresolved issues

  • Drivers feel supported and are comfortable calling overnight

  • Handoff notes are clear, thorough, and require no follow-up

  • Fewer repeat issues due to improved awareness and pattern recognition

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of dispatch experience required

  • Experience using TPS or other logistics software

  • College degree preferred but not required

  • Driving experience is a plus

Key Skills:

  • Consistently sound decision-making that supports both drivers and the business

  • Emotional control when handling frustrated or tired drivers

  • Ability to ask the right questions to gather accurate information

  • Strong organization and follow-through, especially during high call volume

  • Strong written communication, especially during shift handoffs

This role follows a non-traditional overnight schedule:

  • Sunday 8:00 AM through Monday 8:00 AM

  • Tuesday 1:00 AM to 11:30 AM

  • Wednesday 1:00 AM to 9:00 AM

  • Thursday 1:00 AM to 9:00 AM every other week

Job requirements
