Carrier Sales Representative

  • On-site

Job description

Carrier Sales Representative

Location: Massillon
Department: Mast Logistics
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30-5 (When trucks roll 24/7, the occasional after-hours call comes with the territory.)

What You’ll Do:
You're the one who makes sure the freight we sell actually gets moved—on time, with the right carrier, and without surprises. As a Carrier Sales Rep, your job is to find the right trucks, negotiate smart rates, and keep freight moving without delays or surprises. You’ll build relationships with reliable carriers, solve problems quickly, and work closely with our sales and operations teams to turn promises into delivered loads.

Responsibilities:

  • Source and book carrier capacity to cover daily and weekly freight

  • Track all deliveries and notify stakeholders of issues.

  • Negotiate rates that protect margins while maintaining strong carrier partnerships

  • Build and maintain a network of carriers you can rely on

  • Track loads and handle issues (delays, breakdowns, driver no-shows)

  • Monitor lane trends and pricing to stay ahead of the market

  • Coordinate with National Sales Reps & Account Managers to align on customer expectations and service levels

  • Maintain clean, accurate data in our TMS and internal tracking tools

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Confident negotiator who can handle both relationship-building and rate tension

  • Persistent problem solver with good judgment

  • Experience in logistics, dispatch, or freight brokerage preferred but not required

  • Organized, responsive, and able to juggle multiple loads at once

  • High accountability and attention to detail—we want to do it right, not just get it done

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Existing carrier relationships or a book of trusted partners

  • Knowledge of industry tools like DAT, Highway, and/or Transport Pro/TMS systems

  • Experience working with reefer, dry van, or open deck carriers

What Success Looks Like:

  • You build trust by being honest and accurate. You say what’s true—even when it’s uncomfortable. You keep your data clean. If something goes wrong, you raise your hand and help fix it, not hide it.

  • You move freight profitably and quickly. You’re consistently covering loads with good margins and reliable service. You manage freight volume without chaos and consistently hit—or exceed—your daily and weekly targets.

  • You maintain carrier relationships that want to work with us. You’re direct, confident, and professional on the phone—even when it’s transactional. You don’t burn bridges.

  • You communicate clearly, proactively, and respectfully. You flag issues early, ask for help when needed, and treat every person with respect.

  • You take ownership of outcomes—from booking trucks to solving problems—and you follow through until the job is done. You don’t rely on others to clean things up after you.

  • You handle issues with transparency and urgency, keeping the team and carriers in the loop while working toward quick, clean resolutions.

  • You follow established processes from start to finish, knowing that consistency builds trust and keeps things moving. When you see opportunities to improve how we work, you speak up and bring solutions.

  • You bring a data-driven mindset to your work, using data to make decisions, hit targets, and drive profitability.|
